Hull City defender Andy Robertson is expected to miss most of the rest of 2016 due to an injury picked up at the weekend, the club have confirmed.

The Scottish international, who has started every league game this season so far, sustained a calf injury in the 62nd minute against Bournemouth as Hull went on to lose 6-1.

He is believed to be out for a maximum of eight weeks, meaning that he will miss a series of important games against rivals in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

During the next eight weeks, Hull are due to face Stoke City, Watford, Southampton, Sunderland, West Brom, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace.

It means that Robertson will also be expected to miss Scotland’s next World Cup qualifying match against England at Wembley on 11 November.

This problem also leaves Hull without a senior recognised left-back, however, other players such as James Weir have played in the position in the past.

Youngster Josh Tymon has also filled in for him in their EFL second round match against Exeter in August.

Robertson joins five other players on the treatment table at the club, who have struggled with injuries in the 2016-17 season.

Moses Odubajo, Alex Bruce, Allan McGregor, Brian Lenihan and Greg Luer have been unavailable for some time, with Michael Dawson just coming back to fitness having played in the Hull U-23s squad in their last match.
