Hull City’s Michael Dawson and Abel Hernandez will both miss some of the remaining weeks of the 2016/17 season through hamstring and calf injuries, the club has confirmed.

Dawson was forced to miss the club’s last match against Liverpool after becoming injured in the warm-up, causing Andrea Ranocchia to make his first start alongside Harry Maguire.

The club does not know when he could return but has set a timeline of a ‘few weeks’ before he may return to the squad.

Meanwhile, after recovering from groin and hernia injuries sustained between November and January, Hernandez has now suffered a hamstring tear that is set to keep him out for four weeks.

The Uruguayan striker has been one of the key players up front in recent weeks, scoring three goals during January to set up victories over Swansea and Bournemouth in the FA Cup and Premier League.

This continues the club’s awful run with injuries in the 2016/17 season with many senior players including Curtis Davies, Markus Henriksen, Will Keane, Ryan Mason and Moses Odubajo missing from the squad.

Davies and Henriksen are said to be making positive progress in their hamstring and shoulder injuries but still face weeks out.
